About us

Safety, compassion and integrity are at the heart of everything we do. At Practice Plus Group Health in Justice (HiJ), we bring together expert teams, evidence-based practice and the power of lived experience to deliver services that make a real and lasting difference to the people we support.

Practice Plus Group HiJ delivers healthcare that improves lives and reduces risk throughout the justice system. Guided by our vision of ‘Access to Excellence’, we are committed to improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities for some of the most marginalised people in society — treating everyone as they would like to be treated, acting with integrity, embracing diversity, and striving to do things better together.

We provide seamless, integrated care throughout the justice pathway, proactively identifying and supporting the most underserved, and designing accessible, equitable care pathways that reflect the diverse communities we serve. By unlocking people’s potential through compassionate healthcare, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, we make a lasting difference to the lives of those in our care and to the communities they are part of.

Scale and reach

Today we deliver healthcare across more than 60 prisons and immigration removal centres nationwide, as well as community settings — supporting over 41,000 patients on any given day, from reception into custody through to release and transition back into community care.

Lived experience is at the heart of what we do

People with lived experience of the justice system are central to everything we do — shaping our services, supporting their peers, and driving meaningful change. As a result, we have introduced peer support through local Health Champions, employing patients to support their peers’ health and wellbeing. This work has been recognised by the Patient Safety Awards.
